What are you known for?

Before I get started... I'm sorry my post was a day late. Prom was yesterday and it become an all day ordeal..lol It did help spark my idea for this post though. So, it's all good! :)

Kat and I have often talked about how so many girls are consumed by what people think of them... Hence, prom night. Each girl wants to look the prettiest, get the most compliments, or get the most 2nd glances... Is that what life is about though? Here's the truth... It doesn't matter what people think about you. It matters what people think about God because of you! You may have to reread that to get it, but it is the honest truth. It isnt what the world tells us, yet how often do they really tell us the truth (What God's word says)? It breaks my heart when girls are so consumed by what others think of them, yet in the process of trying to make sure they look "ok" and are "cool" they loose focus of how they are affecting the name of their Savior... Now, please understand that God can move and do what ever He wants to do without you, yet He would also like to use you if you willl let Him. Have you ever heard the saying, "You may be the only Bible people read!"? The reality is if you claim to be a Christian that makes unbelievers watch you... You are basically wearing the name of Christ each and every day you live! During the good and the bad... So, think about it. Are you more consumed by how people see you or how people view Christ because of you? If you were told that you could not attend a prom party bc you were to "Christ like" what would your response be?

Matthew 5:13-14 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

With care,
JEN

Dear Anonymous,

I don't know who you are or how well you know me. Quite frankly I don't really care, but I want you to know one thing. Jennifer Rochester is in love with God, and she tries to live her life for his glory. Remember Romans 3:23 "For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Yes Jennifer may make mistakes, but she is saved by the grace of God-- as am I.

As for 2 Timothy 3:1-9, I don't know what you are referring to here, but this passage does not describe Jennifer in the least. This passage describes someone who has no spiritual backbone, who is not willing to take a firm stance for God. I think the facts that Jen writes this blog, as well as another blog, along with being a chaplain for Beta Club, while previously leading a Bible study for the sister's of Football players, speak for themselves. Jennifer Rochester takes a stand for God. This may be horrible to say, but I am going to say it anyway. You call her spineless in this scripture, but you won't even reveal your identity. I believe that is a little hypocritical of YOU, calling her a coward and displaying cowardly characteristics yourself.

As for her beauty, don't forget 1 Samuel 16:7, " But the LORD said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'" I once gave a speech on how outward beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You may not think she is pretty, but I honestly think she is GORGEOUS. My mom always says pretty is as pretty does. Jennifer acts pretty, and that makes her even more beautiful. People who are mean and cruel and accusing don't look as pretty as people like Jen who build others up and encourage them to go after God.

As for talking about people behind their backs, Jennifer is one the best I know at NOT doing that. In fact she calls me on it when I start to stumble and gossip. She is a great accountability partner.

Jennifer doesn't try to intimidate people and manipulate them. She honestly thinks before she acts, and tries to be open so that everyone can trust her with their struggles.

You may disagree with me, but I will have you know one thing. Every sin Jen has ever committed or ever will committ is under the blood of Jesus Christ, it is removed from her as far as the east is from the west. God has forgiven and forgotten her transgressions, perhaps you should too. She shouldn't have to cry over you, that would give the devil a foothold in her life. I will not stand by and let someone feed lies into her life.

I'm praying for you, whoever you are. And God loves you.

Anonymous,

I think Kat handeled this very well, but I just wanted to say a couple things also. As far as the not being pretty thing... Im glad you feel free to share your feelings. I would hate for you to lie to me if you didnt feel that I was. The truth is though.. Im cool with that! My beauty is not found in what you or anyone thinks. I know what the one person who I care about thinks and that is all that matters... He (God...just making sure that is clear!) not only sees me as pretty, but He sees me as beautiful, gorgeous, and perfect! That is good enough for me! :)

Please know that I've been praying for you all day and will continue to. God bless... :)
