This doesn't happen often... I cant tell you how many times I've been places and had ideas for the blog. Ill jot them down on napkins, receipts, bulletins, my hand, text them to myself, or just anything. Today..... I have....nothing. Trust me, this is realllllly abnormal for me! I decided to just kinda throw a topic out there and see what you guys think! This is definitely a post that needs comments BC it will be totally pointless without them! :/ With that said, the topic is fasting.... what do you think about it? Does it mean just food or anything? Have you ever done it before? If so, how long? If you fast from food how do you remain healthy? What would be your reason behind fasting?
I've tried it some and God seems to really bless it, but I'm still a little new to the idea. Let me know what you think! :)

Fasting as I understand it:
Fasting is a way of saying God, I want you to move, I need to hear your voice, and I'm giving such-and-such up for so long of a time so that I can focus on you and hearing your voice.
Fasting doesn't mean specifically food, although it is often connected with it. But it can be anything that takes up a lot of your time. It can be food, it can be TV, internet, facebook, blogging, free reading (IE anything besides school/work/bible reading), etc. For instance, I recently gave up facebook for a whole week to meditate on God. Facebook used to take up a lot of my time, and I wanted to show God that I cared enough about him to give it up so I could hear his voice. Going facebook free was good for me, I had more time to think through my feelings and talk to God about them, rather than messaging my friends about it everyday.
I used to think fasting was a scary thing, and I couldn't do it. But now that I have experienced fasting first-hand I recommend it every once in a while. I think it really puts things in perspective for you. If you are thinking of fasting, I recommend you take a step back, and look at the despensible things you waste time on everyday. Are you willing to give them up to hear God's voice?
As for fasting food being healthy or unhealthy, typically when you fast, you give up a certain meal, or only eat bread and water for so long. IDK what to say except, it's a matter of do you trust God to give you the energy and sustinence you need?
Well that's all my thoughts. I'd love to hear your feedback!
I have fasted before and it felt so good to be close to God. I don't have enough time to fully answer the questions, but I did enjoy the post and I hope you do something like it again.
Blessings,

honestly, I've never completely fasted food, and unless God specifically imprints it on my heart, I plan never to do so. for me, if I don't eat I get weak and headachey and emotional and can't focus on anything. Fasting tv, movies, internet, facebook, and even friends sometimes seem to be more... appropriate? applicable?... at least at this time in my life.
For me, fasting is basically what Kat said: giving up something in your life that takes attention away from God. It's a physical way of exemplifying your thirst & need for God instead of entertainment or people or food.
i totally agree with you guys! like i was thinking fast during lunch bc thats about the only time i can actually spend time with God.... i also thought about fasting txting after nine and so that i can spemd more alone time with God! :) im gonna keep praying and see where God leads me!
I have fasted, and it was definatly a momeorable expierence. I did it with my church and we fasted dinner one night a week and met up on that night to praise God and just listen to what He had for us. I definatly grew so much. Since then I have only fasted 'things', and I found I needed to give up those things completely rather than just fasting them.
I would reccommend fasting to anyone, especially if God calls you to do it. Even if you dont have the best health, I believe that if God takes you to it, He will bring you through it.
I fast when God asks me to.
I really enjoyed all your girls feedback!
Blessings,
Meggie
